The Delaware Lottery has escalated its partnership with Scientific Games with the aim of advancing self-service betting kiosks across multiple retail outlets, and powered by Caesars Sportsbook’s odds and wagering menu. Residents can now place prop bets, participate in live wagering, and create same-game parlays via these kiosks. Meanwhile, faster ticket processing is predicted to streamline transactions and enhance convenience.
Market context
The U.S. sports betting market is projected to reach approximately $162 billion in handle in 2026, a nearly 20 per cent year-over-year increase. FanDuel and DraftKings continue to dominate, accounting for more than 70 per cent of online wagers. Analysts attribute growth to new state launches, product innovations such as live betting and parlays, and major global events like the FIFA World Cup.
Sports betting is legal in Delaware and regulated by the Delaware Lottery as well as by the state’s gaming commission. Licenced operators must follow strict regulations, security, and responsible gaming rules. This includes a $2,500 cap on live wagers and a one per cent levy on gross revenue to fund consumer protection programmes.
Enforcement against unlicenced operators remains strict, with offshore sportsbooks being completely banned. The state’s guidelines have made it clear that it prioritises consumer trust and responsible gambling. Its limited-operator model makes the market smaller than in neighbouring states like Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Meeting player preferences
“As sports betting continues to grow in popularity, these self-service kiosks meet players where they are, fitting wagering into their day and catering to their preferences,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery.
Designed to deliver fast, flexible, and engaging betting experiences, Scientific Games’ kiosks also feature customisable wagers, QR code integration, and AI-powered suggestions. They have all been housed in sleek self-service terminals. So far, 89 retail outlets and three casino properties statewide have installed the kiosks, reducing employee workloads and shortening transaction times during peak sporting events.
Now in H2 20206, nationwide sports betting adoption has grown significantly, but signs of plateauing are emerging in mature states. In addition, about 3.2 million active monthly bettors are recorded across the U.S., skewing younger, male, and higher-income. Online and mobile platforms continue to drive the majority of betting activity, according to research from Optimove and the Urban Institute.
Expanded betting options
Players can combine various sports into a single parlay ticket or select prepackaged quick-pick wagers. Additionally, they may customise their point spreads. Delaware Park Casino, Bally’s Dover Casino Resort, and Harrington Raceway & Casino are among the venues hosting the new kiosks, which retain traditional betting capabilities while offering expanded options.
Scientific Games has also extended its collaboration with the Arizona Lottery, launching a new series of technology upgrades on July 9. These improvements aim to enhance player engagement and “bring fresh energy” to the draw game lineup. The upgrades are anchored by Scientific Games’ Momentum ecosystem, which integrates the main gaming system with retailer management tools.
Updates include refreshed content for The Pick, the addition of a daily midday drawing, a new Pick Four game, and a Powerball Double Play supplement. Together, these innovations are designed to modernise Arizona’s lottery offerings while reinforcing Scientific Games’ role as a leading technology partner in the U.S. gaming industry.
