Getting around Sao Paulo is easy when you know how. Whether hopping on board the SiGMA shuttle or making use of public transport, we’ve worked all the best ways to get you to our events on time and hassle free.
Public transportation
In São Paulo, ride-hailing apps are widely used and generally considered safer than street taxis because apps verify drivers, track trips via GPS, and store ride data. Brazilian law also requires platforms to verify driver identity, vehicle registration, insurance, and criminal records. Popular and safe options include Uber, 99, and inDrive.

General FAQs
Sao Paulo’s weather is tropical, which means you’ll want to plan for unpredictability, with very hot days tempered by cool breezes and frequent rain. We recommend light, breathable layers that can accommodate a changeable climate.
Many of SiGMA’s networking events, such as our Awards ceremony and cultural activities, also advise a dress code. In some cases, such as pre-event expo visits, the dress code is mandatory for your safety. Please follow the agenda for more detailed information.
Brazil uses two main plug types. The first is the N type – recognised by its two round pins and a grounding pin. The latter is the C type, which consists of two round pins. While some hotels may be able to offer adaptors, we cannot guarantee it, and recommend planning ahead for all of your devices.
The Real (R$) is the official currency. You can use your credit cards pretty much everywhere, but we do recommend small amounts of local currency to cover any small purchase needs. Be sure to use ATMs in secure locations. Don’t forget to inform your bank of planned travel to avoid card blocks.
As in any big city, you should be vigilant of your surroundings, especially at night. It’s advisable not to wear flashy or expensive jewelry, and to use your mobile phones discreetly when out in the street. Always use official taxi apps, like Uber, and never accept rides from unmarked cabs or strangers. Keep your bag close and make sure no valuables are left in easy to reach pockets.

Yes. There is free WiFi available to all delegates and exhibitors over the three-day summit. As some operators require a CPF (Brazilian tax ID) to activate SIM cards, it is recommended to use a downloadable travel eSIM provider. Usually none are needed for São Paulo, but may be advisable if you plan to travel outside of the city to more rural areas. Check official guidelines and recommendations with your healthcare providers.
