During SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 Andrii Lypovyi, Senior Sales Manager at Slotegrator, sat down in the SiGMA Media Lounge to discuss market entry strategies, AI and how iGaming operators can stand out in a fast-evolving global landscape.
Winning market entry strategies
Global iGaming growth is being shaped by one key factor: strategy. For Lypovyi, the first step in any successful market entry is choosing the right license.
“Choosing the perfect license for the location that you’re entering is the main point. For example, in Germany, they have a local license, but 70% of the traffic goes through offshore operators. You need to pick and choose depending on your budget, expertise, and compliance,” he explained. In contrast, some markets, such as Nigeria, require a local license to operate legally and effectively. “It’s quite easy to obtain and renew- a very good license to work with in that market specifically,” he said.
Beyond compliance, localisation remains a decisive factor. “It’s not just about translating your platform. You need to look at what players are used to, what front-end design and experience they feel comfortable with,” Lypovyi said.
Slotegrator’s team helps clients tailor their offerings by providing region-specific provider and game lists. “If my client wants a top list for Germany, I can provide that so they know what to push in the region,” he said. “In Africa, for example, crash games and sport-themed content are much more popular, while in Europe, players prefer slots and live casino.”
Adapting to changing regulations
As global iGaming expands, regulatory frameworks are tightening, especially across Europe. “We’re seeing trends toward stricter advertising rules. In the Netherlands, for instance, TV advertising is banned, and in Germany, new regulations even control slot spin times,” said Lypovyi.
These restrictions create a challenging environment for operators holding local licenses. “It becomes heavy for them to advertise and compete with offshore alternatives that are still present in their market,” he noted. As a result, some businesses are shifting toward offshore jurisdictions like Curaçao or Anjouan to maintain flexibility.
Even well-established markets like Malta are raising compliance expectations. “Some operators just can’t meet the new requirements. It’s a sign that the industry is evolving fast and you need to adapt fast with it,” Lypovyi added.
AI and emerging tech
Artificial intelligence is becoming a game-changer for both strategy and operations. “It’s becoming more popular to scrape data with large language models,” Lypovyi explained. “You can track new regulatory changes across jurisdictions or analyse affiliate media to spot emerging trends.”
AI is also reshaping player experiences. “Operators can now use AI to analyse a player’s history and recommend games they’ll enjoy. It’s a superb way to drive retention and increase lifetime value,” he said.
As AI becomes more deeply integrated into iGaming, its role is shifting from supporting tool to a strategic driver, helping companies anticipate market movements, personalise gameplay and streamline operations.
Standing out in a crowded market
With thousands of platforms competing globally, differentiation is everything. “You need to offer players something beyond the standard sportsbook or casino,” Lypovyi said. Gamification, such as loyalty shops or profile customisation adds a personal touch that keeps players engaged.
He also highlighted the importance of affiliate partnerships and influencer marketing. “We’re seeing influencers outside the iGaming sphere being drawn in,” he said.
While the fundamentals of marketing remain consistent, he believes influencer engagement will continue to expand. “The ways that you attract traffic are quite set nowadays, but influencer marketing will only grow bigger from here.”
A global industry in motion
With everything from licensing and localisation to technology and trust, Slotegrator’s insights reflect an industry that is growing faster and becoming more sophisticated by the day. As Lypovyi summed up, success in the new era of global iGaming growth will belong to those who adapt intelligently, combining compliance with creativity.
