Sports technology and data provider Sportradar has reportedly signed a new multi-year partnership with prediction market platform Kalshi, marking its first major agreement in the rapidly growing prediction markets sector.
Under the deal, Sportradar will provide Kalshi with official sports data, live odds, integrity monitoring services, and a range of fan engagement and customer acquisition tools. The agreement also extends these services to brokers and market makers operating on the Kalshi platform. However, the financial terms and agreements of the partnership were not disclosed.
The move comes as prediction markets continue to gain traction among sports fans and traders, creating new competition and opportunities alongside traditional sports betting operators.
The partnership will cover several major sports leagues, including Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the National Hockey League. All four leagues already maintain official data rights agreements with Sportradar and have recently expanded their presence in the prediction markets space through marketing partnerships.
NBA not included in the deal
One major league missing from the agreement is the NBA. While several sports organisations have already begun exploring opportunities within the prediction market space, the NBA has taken a more cautious approach. Commissioner Adam Silver has previously said the league is still evaluating the sector, and Sportradar has not commented on whether discussions are ongoing.
The partnership itself follows a model already being used across the sports betting industry. Sportradar currently supplies official data, odds-related services and integrity solutions to major sportsbooks, helping operators run regulated betting products while maintaining oversight and transparency.
For Sportradar, the agreement represents a strategic expansion into a segment that has attracted increasing attention from both regulators and sports leagues. Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl said in prepared remarks: “We look forward to working with key prediction market participants as the landscape matures, establishing the trusted, compliant framework for sports innovation just as we have successfully delivered in online sports betting.” Immediately after the news, Sportradar’s stock had jumped 8.8 per cent amid new optimism in investors.
Sports-related contracts grow
The partnership also comes as Kalshi experiences rapid growth. The platform recently announced that sports-related markets have generated more than $2 billion in trading volume over the past six months.
Kalshi first entered sports prediction markets with futures contracts tied to major events such as the Super Bowl, March Madness and the NBA Finals. While Super Bowl markets generated around $27 million in trading activity, March Madness proved a major event for the platforms, attracting more than $400 million in trading volume.
Since then, the company has expanded to offer markets on individual sporting events across a wide range of competitions. According to Kalshi, trading linked to Wimbledon Championships accounted for roughly two-thirds of all activity on the platform last week.
The announcement was welcomed by investors. Observers believe that the agreement also shows how prediction markets are becoming increasingly popular and intertwined with the wider sports betting ecosystem, as operators, leagues and data providers position themselves for the sector’s next phase of growth.
