Revenue volatility is a persistent headache for operators. So is player churn. But new tools combining poker with slots, think Spins Poker, are emerging as potential game-changers. They could stabilise performance across the sector and improve player retention by up to 10 per cent.
Tackling the seasonality problem
EvenBet Gaming formally launched Spins Poker last month. It’s the first live commercial product that actually merges poker and slot mechanics. The thinking behind it is straightforward: operators need something to keep the lights on when sports betting dries up between major events.
The research came out of France. There, Spins tournaments generated €349.5 million in 2024, and the format captured 94 per cent of that. Impressive figures. The numbers suggest Spins Poker could add up to €50 million annually to the operator’s GGR. On top of that, they’re looking at a 10 per cent reduction in player drop-off. What’s more, the data showed 29 per cent of sports bettors also play poker. That’s retention gold, really.
Why operators should care
The real challenge for operators is simple: between sporting events, there’s a dead zone. It hurts liquidity. Running a poker room requires players. Getting regulatory sign-off is complicated enough without liquidity issues on top. Spins Poker sidesteps this through quick sessions, five to seven minutes, not longer, and multipliers that hit 1,000x.
There’s another angle. Player interaction tends to spike, which keeps engagement up. And here’s the kicker: acquiring customers through this format costs roughly a sixth of what traditional casino games cost. Two weeks to integrate into existing systems. That’s not nothing for operators managing tight margins and acquisition budgets.
Dmitry Starostenkov heads EvenBet Gaming. He exclusively told SiGMA News how they spotted a real gap in the market. Operators are struggling with the seasonality problem, betting ebbs and flows, and players migrate elsewhere:
“Our research identified a clear gap in the market for cost-effective solutions that address the volatile revenue fluctuations caused by betting seasonality and player churn. Built around a proven popular poker format, Spins Poker was engineered for broad appeal, helping operators increase engagement and retention, countering the rise in acquisition costs. Unveiled in Rome, this pioneering product has the potential to elevate GGR significantly for operators across the globe.“
The data angle
Mobile-first. Cross-vertical. That’s the architecture. Operators get real-time dashboards tracking session volume, engagement, and revenue shifts. It helps them make smarter calls on retention strategy and liquidity during those competitive dry spells between major sports tournaments.
The format’s flexible enough to adapt to different markets. The analytics feed directly into promotional decisions and help win back inactive players.
Built in Malta, certified internationally
EvenBet Gaming operates under a B2B licence from the Malta Gaming Authority. ISO 27001, iTech Labs, BMM Labs, GLI—they’ve got the certifications. Industry awards have followed: EGR B2B, SAGSE.
The pattern’s clear across the sector. Operators are increasing their focus on sustainability and broadening their sources of income. It is necessary due to the volatility of online gaming and betting in many marketplaces. In an increasingly competitive market, Spins Poker is just one illustration of how data and tried-and-true formats may create a more reliable and lucrative company.
