Arizona’s tribal gaming sector contributed $46.23 million to the Arizona Benefits Fund during the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2026, marking a 1.9 per cent year-on-year increase and reinforcing the sector’s role in supporting public services across the state. The latest payment brings total contributions to the fund for FY2026 to $170.77 million, with money allocated to education, emergency healthcare, tourism, wildlife conservation and responsible gambling programmes.
Q4 contributions show steady growth
The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) announced that tribal gaming contributions reached $46,232,390 for the quarter, slightly higher than the same period in FY2025. Under the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact, tribal casinos share a portion of their gaming revenue with the state, with most of the funds directed to the Arizona Benefits Fund.
Commenting on the latest figures, ADG Director Jackie Johnson said the fourth quarter results highlight the continued importance of tribal gaming in supporting communities across Arizona. She said the $46.2 million contribution would help fund priorities including public safety, education, wildlife conservation and other essential public services.
The department said the results close the fiscal year on a positive note, reflecting stable revenue from Arizona’s regulated tribal gaming industry.
Education remains the biggest beneficiary
The Arizona Benefits Fund receives 88 per cent of tribal gaming contributions collected under the compact. The remaining 12 per cent is distributed directly by tribes to cities, towns and counties of their choice to support local community services and public safety initiatives.
Education continued to receive the largest share of funding during the fourth quarter. The Instructional Improvement Fund received $25.29 million, accounting for more than half of the total quarterly distribution.
The Trauma and Emergency Services Fund received $11.52 million, while $2.32 million was allocated to cover the operating costs of the Arizona Department of Gaming.
Wildlife conservation and tourism each received $3.29 million, supporting environmental protection and tourism development across the state. A further $516,438 was directed towards programmes for problem gambling education, treatment and prevention.
FY2026 total reaches more than $170M
The fourth quarter payment brought total contributions to the Arizona Benefits Fund for FY2026 to $170,766,048. The annual total reflects the continued economic contribution made by tribal gaming operations across Arizona.
Since the current funding system was introduced in FY2004, cumulative tribal gaming contributions have reached approximately $2.5 billion. According to the ADG, these funds have supported a wide range of state and local programmes over the past two decades, benefiting schools, healthcare services, conservation projects, tourism initiatives and local governments.
Tribal gaming remains a key part of Arizona’s economy
Arizona currently has 26 Class III casinos, all of which operate under the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact. The casinos are regulated by the Arizona Department of Gaming in partnership with Arizona’s tribal governments.
The compact continues to provide a framework that allows tribes to operate casino gaming while sharing a portion of gaming revenues with the state and local communities. Through this arrangement, tribal gaming remains an important source of funding for public programmes across Arizona, while also supporting economic activity within tribal nations and surrounding communities.
