BetBlocker has surpassed 200,000 unique active users worldwide in 2026, marking a notable achievement for the gambling-blocking charity. The organisation announced the achievement through a LinkedIn update published this week. BetBlocker stated, “BetBlocker is very pleased to share that we have now passed 200k unique active users worldwide in 2026.”
The charity added that its global reach is “expanding at an incredible rate.” BetBlocker also said it remains “well on track to significantly surpass the 300k unique active users we supported in 2025.”
This comes after previous updates that pointed to continued growth in several international markets. BetBlocker said it had reached 100,000 active users by mid-March 2026. The organisation also recently confirmed that it had surpassed 10,000 active users in the United States in 2026.
Kenya and South Africa remain key markets
Africa has become one of the fastest-growing regions for BetBlocker, particularly Kenya and South Africa. SiGMA News reported that BetBlocker experienced rapid growth in user numbers in both countries during 2025. The growth comes as gambling participation is rising across the continent. In GeoPoll’s Betting in Africa 2025 survey, 90 per cent of respondents in South Africa had placed a bet. Kenya recorded 79 per cent participation.
Kenya remains one of Africa’s largest betting markets. A separate GeoPoll survey previously reported that 96 per cent of Kenyan youth respondents had participated in betting activities. South Africa’s gambling sector has also expanded rapidly. Industry reports showed the country’s online gambling industry generated record revenues during 2024 and 2025.
BetBlocker has previously linked growth in Africa to greater smartphone access and faster adoption of digital payments. Demand for practical harm-prevention tools is growing in mobile-first gambling markets, Founder Duncan Garvie told SiGMA News in a previous interview. Many users, he said, prefer support solutions that are private, instant, and free to access.
Garvie also highlighted the importance of localisation as BetBlocker expands internationally. The organisation has prioritised translating its software into multiple languages while improving regional accessibility. The charity believes broader localisation helps reduce barriers for users seeking gambling support services in emerging markets.
Free access continues driving adoption
BetBlocker attributes much of its growth to accessibility and anonymity. The charity provides free gambling-blocking software designed to help users restrict access to betting websites and apps. The service is available globally and supports multiple devices. BetBlocker previously stated that demand continues increasing “as we translate the service to support more and more communities.”
The organisation continues to grow its international footprint, whilst increasing language support and platform coverage. User reviews on Google Play suggest BetBlocker regularly updates its list of blocked gambling websites and applications.
Growing focus on responsible gambling
The latest milestone for BetBlocker reflects the increasing global awareness of responsible gambling tools. With the expansion of online gambling in Africa and other international markets, the need for accessible support services is growing. As adoption accelerates around the world, the charity now looks set for another record year.
