Manila’s Westside Resort adopts IDX’s X-Trend system
Westside Resort, the newest large-scale integrated resort rising in Entertainment City, will install IDX’s X-Trend display system across 250 gaming tables as part of its initial launch configuration. The property is slated to open in the third quarter of 2026.
Entertainment City in Parañaque, a district of Manila, has become Manila’s premier gaming and tourism hub, home to integrated resorts such as Solaire, City of Dreams, and Okada Manila. With Westside Resort joining the lineup, the district continues to reshape the country’s gaming and hospitality industry. It is now positioning itself as a regional rival.
It is also evolving into a “Las Vegas Strip of Southeast Asia,” according to several media reports. With the area remaining a tourism magnet, recent market corrections like Okada Manila’s 17 per cent drop in gross gaming revenue in Q1 2026 highlight the competitive pressures and shifting player dynamics.
Travellers International Hotel Group, operator of Newport World Resorts, and Alliance Global Group hold majority control of the project, while Suntrust Resort Holdings retains a minority stake, according to media reports.
Entertainment City is almost built with five mega resorts competing for market share. Technology becomes a differentiator. Additionally, the market correction underscores that even established resorts face volatility, making innovation and differentiation critical for new entrants.
Features of the X-Trend system
The X-Trend platform offers centralised network management, allowing operators to update and control table displays seamlessly across the casino floor. It is designed to integrate with the resort’s planned smart table technology, enhancing both efficiency and player engagement.
Key features included trend boards that display game results, side bets, and jackpots. Additionally, customisable graphics and colours aligned with casino branding to create a dynamic atmosphere. It also features optional modules, such as X Bonus, which enable bonus games or jackpots to be displayed directly on the screen.
Rhoda Lopez, Westside Resort’s chief gaming officer, said the decision to adopt X-Trend was driven by its display quality and compatibility with operational requirements.
IDX’s broader capabilities
IDX emphasised that its software platform supports next-generation table technologies, enabling real-time data flow between systems. Distributed in the Philippines by Asia Pioneer Entertainment, the system is designed to appeal to younger audiences, particularly Gen Z players, with simplified visuals and trend indicators that modernise traditional signage.
Additional strengths include flexibility to host external games and features, scalability with multi-game support, robust architecture, and compliance assurance, with modules tested and certified by recognised gaming equipment bodies.
By adopting X-Trend, Westside Resort positions itself as a technologically advanced property, rivalling established Entertainment City resorts like Okada Manila and Solaire.
Westside Resort development highlights
Valued at $1.25 billion, Westside Resort is expected to generate more than 1,000 jobs upon completion. Other features that the development will highlight are over 2,500 hotel rooms across three hotel brands, a multi-level gaming complex with more than 2,000 gaming machines, and more than 250 table games equipped with IDX’s X-Trend system.
