Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai apologises amid gambling probe
Pakistani YouTuber Saad Rehman, prominently known online as Ducky Bhai (as depicted in the featured image), has apologised publicly after being granted bail in an ongoing investigation linked to alleged online gambling promotions and money laundering.
Rehman, one of Pakistan’s most recognisable digital figures, released a video message on YouTube shortly after the Lahore High Court approved his bail. The case has drawn considerable attention, not only because of his popularity, but also due to the authorities’ increasing focus on online gambling and influencer endorsements.
In the video, Rehman said his statement was not an attempt to defend himself or challenge the First Information Report (FIR) filed against him. Instead, he described it as an apology to viewers and the wider public, acknowledging that some of his content may have had unintended consequences.
“If any of my content has negatively influenced anyone, I apologise from the heart,” he said, adding that while entertainment was always his goal, he understood that large audiences bring responsibility. He also said he would fully cooperate with investigators and accept the final decision of the court.
Allegations and denial
The investigation centres on claims that Rehman was linked to or promoted online gambling applications, an activity prohibited under Pakistani law for decades. The agencies are reportedly examining whether social media promotion played a role in directing users to illegal betting platforms, as well as any related financial transactions.
However, Rehman has denied the allegations and maintains he has committed no illegal activity. He has said he plans to contest the charges through the legal system. Speaking about his arrest, Rehman described the past several months as mentally and emotionally demanding. According to his account, he had attended a family gathering on 16 August 2025 and was preparing to travel abroad when he was stopped at Lahore Airport the following day.
He said police informed him at the time that the case related to suspected links with online gambling apps. After several weeks in custody and court proceedings, the Lahore High Court granted him bail on 26 November 2025. Bail was set at PKR 1 million, roughly equivalent to $3,600. Legal experts have noted that bail does not amount to acquittal and that investigations typically continue while the accused remains at liberty.
Wider crackdown on gambling
The case comes as Pakistan steps up enforcement against illegal gambling activities, particularly those operating online. Authorities have repeatedly warned social media users and influencers against promoting betting platforms, many of which operate from overseas.
Regulators have voiced concern that online endorsements by popular creators can make illegal gambling appear legitimate, especially among younger audiences. Officials say the investigation into Rehman forms part of a broader effort led by the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which has been targeting unlicensed gambling services and their promoters.
In his final remarks, Rehman thanked supporters who stood by him during the legal process and said the experience had changed how he views his online presence. “This has taught me that influence is not just about views,” he said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further court proceedings are expected. However, the arrest and statements made by Pakistani authorities suggest that social media influencers who endorse gambling apps and online betting platforms are under more government scrutiny. Authorities are making it clear that prominent people who support unlicenced gambling services will be held responsible, with the NCCIA spearheading the investigation.
