SPT ambassador Lukas Robinson takes third at SPT Malta freeroll
The SiGMA Poker Tour is well underway here in Malta, with things kicking off this Wednesday at the Portomaso Casino in St Julian’s. Whipping up excitement, yesterday’s Freeroll from EvenBet Gaming brought great energy to the room (and a guarantee of €10,000), with players competing for tempting cash prizes – and – no small measure of bragging rights.

Robinson rises
The freeroll delivered plenty of tension as players fought to survive long enough to secure their spot. After clinging on for survival, nine players are now in the money, with the final lineup emerging after a tense build up. Among the performers was SiGMA Poker Tour ambassador Lukas Steven Robinson, who battled through the packed field to secure a top-three finish, adding another strong result to his growing poker résumé and reinforcing his role as one of the recognisable faces of this year’s tour.
Meanwhile, patience paid off for Cypriot Martha Leventi – she tops the final nine, taking home €3,000 in prize money. She’s followed by Mikolaj Bialas from Poland.
The card that never came
The bubble was eventually burst by Evoke Gaming’s Petter Redemo.
Here’s how it went down:
With five players at the table, Petter looked down at an Ace-Ten offsuit while sitting on only two big blinds – a stack so short that he had no choice but to move all-in for his tournament life.
The player immediately to his left calls it, and the next player to act also comes along, creating a three-way pot. The remaining players folded.
The flop came down with a 5-5-Queen. At that point, the second player shoved all-in holding pocket nines, forcing the third player out of the hand before his cards were ever revealed.
Petter was now behind and desperately needed help on the final two community cards. However, both the turn and river were complete blanks. His card never came. The pocket nines held up and eliminated him from the freeroll tournament.
The SiGMA Poker Tour continues
The SiGMA Poker Tour is taking place in Malta this week and next from 27 May to 01 June. Hosted at the Portomaso Casino, a five-star venue that stands as one of the best in Europe. In the meantime SPT Manila runs from the 31 of May to 04 June at City of Dreams.
