The UAE Lottery has partnered with SmartLife Foundation and GEMS Education’s Premier Schools Accommodation to deliver a financial literacy workshop for school transport workers, helping participants strengthen their understanding of money management and long-term financial planning.
More than 60 school bus drivers and helpers attended the session, which covered budgeting, saving, fraud prevention and retirement planning. The workshop forms part of the UAE Lottery’s H.O.P.E. corporate social responsibility platform, which supports community initiatives across the country.
Focus on everyday financial skills
The workshop was designed to provide practical financial knowledge that participants can apply in their daily lives. Through interactive discussions, quizzes and learning activities, attendees explored ways to manage household budgets, build savings and protect themselves from financial scams.
Participants also received certificates following the completion of the programme.
The organisers said the initiative aimed to improve financial awareness and provide workers with tools to make informed financial decisions.
Part of H.O.P.E. CSR platform
The financial literacy programme was delivered under the “Opportunities” pillar of H.O.P.E., the UAE Lottery’s corporate social responsibility framework.
H.O.P.E. focuses on four key areas: Healthcare, Opportunities, Planet and Enrichment. Through the platform, the UAE Lottery supports projects that address community needs and promote social development across the UAE.
The latest workshop reflects the organisation’s focus on educational programmes that help individuals develop practical life skills.
Partnership supports community development
The initiative was delivered in collaboration with SmartLife Foundation, an organisation that works to improve the wellbeing of blue-collar workers through education and support programmes.
Speaking about the workshop, Suzan Kazzi, Associate Director for Corporate Social Responsibility at Momentum, The UAE Lottery, said financial literacy can help individuals build confidence and create greater stability for the future.
“Through H.O.P.E., we are committed to driving initiatives that equip individuals with practical life skills to help them build better opportunities for themselves and shape a more secure future,” Kazzi said.
She added that partnerships with community organisations play an important role in delivering programmes that create a lasting impact.
Expanding access to financial education
Abhijeet Oak, Vice President at SmartLife Foundation, said many blue-collar workers have limited access to structured financial education despite carrying significant financial responsibilities.
He said initiatives such as the workshop can help individuals strengthen financial habits, make informed decisions and prepare for future financial goals.
“Through partnerships like this, we can help individuals make informed financial decisions, build healthier financial habits, and plan more confidently for the future,” Oak said.
The workshop is the latest community initiative delivered through the UAE Lottery’s H.O.P.E. platform, highlighting the growing role of financial education in supporting workers and promoting financial wellbeing across the UAE.
UAE Lottery launches first retail outlet in Abu Dhabi
In April, The UAE Lottery opened its first physical retail outlet in Musaffah’s M40 area in Abu Dhabi, allowing customers aged 18 and above to purchase tickets on site for the first time as it expanded beyond its online-only model and moved towards a hybrid system that combined digital and in-person participation.
The outlet enables players to purchase tickets for Lucky Day Draw and Pick 3 with payment completed on site, while staff assist customers with queries and game selection and a range of payment options is available.
The launch marks the first introduction of over-the-counter ticket sales through a dedicated retail outlet, expanding the UAE Lottery beyond its initial online-only model.
