What happens when iGaming puts fraud defence, payments, and gameplay in one unified platform?

SiGMA Magazine issue 35’s feature with Alfredo Solis, Managing Director at AcuityTec, makes a clear case that unifying fraud defence across onboarding, payments, and gameplay reduces blind spots, strengthens regulatory confidence, and protects long‑term player value, building on momentum from SiGMA Central Europe earlier this month. The piece argues that fragmentation creates operational risk, while a single view enables faster, more accurate decisions that safeguard licences, growth plans and customer trust.

The case for unity

Solis frames today’s threat landscape as faster and more adaptive, with fraud rings exploiting chargeback gaps, bonus mechanics, and multi‑accounting at an industrial scale. At the same time, regulators expect continuous monitoring rather than point‑in‑time checks. “Operators are dealing with threats that evolve daily. Defence has to be continuous, not fragmented,” he notes, adding that the future relies on “one view, one source of truth” to align teams and systems.

pKYC as a living process

Identity is no longer a single checkpoint but an ongoing discipline when connected to registration and transactional signals in real time. “By treating KYC as perpetual, you continuously enrich player profiles, uncover risks early … and detect anomalies the moment they emerge,” says Solis, highlighting that subtle data shifts and clusters of linked accounts surface more reliably on a unified platform. This approach moves operators from reactive responses to proactive, lifecycle‑wide control.

Chargebacks extend beyond lost funds to impact merchant accounts, card network ratios and player experience if unmanaged. “Chargebacks go further than just funds lost … they can completely impact your payment ecosystem,” Solis explains, arguing for early interception and live visibility across Mastercard, Visa, AmEx and Discover to resolve issues before escalation. Unified workflows keep dispute handling aligned with broader risk policies, turning potential losses into trust‑building outcomes.

Collusion and multi‑accounting

Risk does not end at deposit; gameplay has become a fertile arena for abuse through collusion, payout manipulation, and scaled bonus exploitation. “Gaming is where trust is won or lost,” says Solis, stressing that detecting collusion patterns, exposing multi‑accounting and catching bonus abuse is fundamental to protecting reputation and licence sustainability. Integrating gameplay analytics with onboarding and payments gives analysts the context to act decisively.

“What iGaming operators need most is orchestration, not fragmented, siloed systems,” Solis states, outlining AcuityTec’s unified risk platform across an end‑to‑end KYC hub, live onboarding and transactional monitoring, advanced screening, and adaptive workflows. He concludes that a unified engine streamlines mitigation and operations while protecting licences, growth strategies and long‑term player trust under tight margins and high scrutiny.
