As Asia continues to establish itself as one of the world’s most influential gaming and technology markets, the SiGMA Asia 2026 Documentary captures the momentum driving the region’s transformation. Filmed during SiGMA Asia in Manila, the documentary explores how innovation, regulation and international collaboration are reshaping digital entertainment, while highlighting the Philippines’ growing role as a regional hub for investment and technological advancement.
Home to more than 155 million active players and generating an estimated $45 billion in annual gaming revenue, Asia remains one of the fastest-growing digital economies in the world. Against this backdrop, Manila has emerged as a strategic meeting point where regulators, operators, technology providers and investors come together to shape the industry’s next chapter.
Supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), SiGMA Asia once again brought together thousands of delegates from across the region, creating an environment where partnerships are formed, innovation is showcased, and conversations translate into tangible business opportunities.
Regulation driving confidence
A central theme throughout the documentary is the importance of effective regulation in creating a sustainable and attractive investment environment.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco explains how the regulator continues to modernise the country’s gaming framework to remain competitive on the global stage.
“PAGCOR has made it a point to update all the gaming regulations and structures that are both for the land-based casino operations and for online gaming. The Philippines is strengthening its regulatory functions in the gaming industry for us to attract more licensees coming from our neighbours or coming from anywhere else in the world.”
His remarks reinforce the Philippines’ commitment to balancing innovation with responsible oversight, strengthening confidence among international operators seeking long-term opportunities in Asia.
Strengthening international partnerships
The documentary also highlights the growing relationship between Malta and the Philippines, two jurisdictions with strong gaming credentials.
Speaking during the event, H.E. John Busuttil, Ambassador of Malta to China and the Philippines, welcomed the introduction of Malta Day alongside SiGMA Asia.
“This year is the first time we are organising a Malta Day on the margins of SiGMA. I think it’s a great way of providing opportunities for people. This is exactly what the countries’ economies need, and I think it brings the best of both of us.”
The initiative reflects SiGMA’s broader commitment to fostering international dialogue and creating new commercial opportunities between governments and industry stakeholders.
Building Asia’s gaming ecosystem
For SiGMA Group Founder Eman Pulis, the Philippines has played a defining role in the organisation’s expansion across Asia.
Reflecting on SiGMA’s journey, he says:
“Manila was and still is the home of iGaming in Asia. In 2018, I left Malta and moved with my family to set up an office in the Philippines. Fast forward a few years, and we have three shows targeting the 4.5 billion people who live in Asia.”
Today, SiGMA’s regional portfolio spans Manila, Dubai and Colombo, providing businesses with access to some of the world’s fastest-growing gaming and technology markets.
Innovation shaping player experiences
The documentary explores how operators are responding to changing consumer expectations through localisation, advanced payment technologies and increasingly personalised experiences.
Erick Su points to greater player engagement as one of the defining trends shaping the future.
“People will be interested in new games and new types of products. You will see more features for promotion, more customisation, greater lifetime engagement and communication between platforms and players.”
As mobile adoption continues to rise across Asia, these innovations are expected to play a significant role in attracting new audiences while improving player retention.
A platform for regional growth
The documentary also showcases SiGMA’s role as a catalyst for business expansion across multiple markets.
Joe Pisano reflects on how the event has supported his company’s regional growth.
“SiGMA’s been fabulous for us because it’s brought us across the region. Previously, we were here in Manila. More recently, it’s expanded to Sri Lanka, South Africa and Dubai, and in each of these markets, we’re learning about new opportunities. It’s through SiGMA that’s helping educate us.”
His experience illustrates how SiGMA’s international network enables companies to explore emerging markets while building valuable business relationships.
Collaboration for long-term success
Alongside commercial growth, the documentary places strong emphasis on responsible gaming, sustainability and regulatory cooperation.
According to Hristo Koevski, meaningful dialogue between industry participants remains essential.
“The open dialogue between regulators and industry stakeholders is essential for long-term success. Events like SiGMA offer an excellent and very valuable platform for different stakeholders to discuss ideas, exchange insights and share best practices.”To echo this collaborative approach, Jeffrey Abrazaldo highlights the lasting impact of connections made during the summit.
“Ultimately, what SiGMA Asia offers is the connections between international stakeholders and domestic players, building relationships that extend beyond the event itself.”
The future is already live
The SiGMA Asia 2026 Documentary presents a compelling picture of a region entering a new phase of growth. With strong regulatory leadership, increasing international investment and continuous technological innovation, Asia is no longer simply an emerging market. It is setting the pace for the future of global gaming.
As the documentary concludes, one message stands out clearly: the future of gaming and digital entertainment is unfolding now, driven by innovation, collaboration and the extraordinary potential of Asia’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
