How Francesco Postiglione is reshaping Casumo's path to regulated excellence

Francesco Postiglione didn’t set out to be an industry architect, but that’s exactly what he’s become. In his recent feature in SiGMA Magazine’s 35th issue, the Casumo leader shares his vision for navigating one of gaming’s most critical inflection points: the shift toward full regulatory compliance in markets that matter.

The feature captures a pivotal moment when Postiglione’s strategic leadership is pulling Casumo away from the grey zones and firmly into the regulated mainstream, blending cutting-edge technology with something you can’t automate: a genuine human presence.

The real story behind Casumo’s strategy

When Postiglione took the helm at Casumo in January 2023, the company faced a choice that many operators avoid: rebuild around regulation. Most would resist. He didn’t.

“I’ve worked in this industry for almost 18 years,” he explains, a career arc that began with founding mobile-first gaming startups and extended through senior roles at companies like Betclic, Napoleon Sports Casino, and PSK. That experience taught him something crucial: fighting regulation doesn’t work. Moving ahead of it does.

Today, Casumo operates in Spain, Ontario, Sweden, and the UK—with the UK now its largest territory. Each market represents not a concession to bureaucracy but a deliberate foundation for sustainable growth. Regulated markets are harder to enter, yes. But they’re also harder to disrupt, offering the kind of stability that attracts serious investment and serious players.

Why “Tech with Touch” isn’t just marketing

Inside Casumo, Postiglione’s philosophy is straightforward: technology should make work frictionless for staff. No clunky legacy systems are slowing down the team, no artificial barriers to productivity.

Outside, it’s different. Players encounter personalized offers, AI-powered protections designed to catch risky betting patterns before they spiral, and frictionless navigation that doesn’t feel like you’re fighting the interface.

But here’s where his thinking diverges from Silicon Valley orthodoxy: “Our customer-service team offers real voices ready to help,” he emphasizes. The algorithm can identify a problem. Only a human can solve the emotional crisis behind it. When a player faces a decision driven by frustration or desperation, no chatbot will do. That’s where genuine expertise and empathy become non-negotiable.

The regulatory alignment nobody’s talking about

Postiglione’s most heretical idea might be his simplest: operators within the same market should actually work together on some things.

“Operators in a market should align on marketing, communication, and compliance,” he argues. “A single, coherent voice engaging regulators can propose pragmatic rules while combating the black market.” It sounds counterintuitive in an industry built on competition, but it’s strategic. When regulators hear fragmented voices, they write fragmented rules. When they hear unity, they listen.

This collective approach transforms regulatory relationships from adversarial to collaborative and it directly strengthens the industry’s ability to influence the policymaking table.

The virtual-reality question

Every year, someone in gaming prophecies that virtual reality is “about to explode.” Every year, adoption stays flat in mainstream gaming. Postiglione is skeptical, not of the technology, but of the narrative. “Virtual-reality hype circulates yearly, yet uptake remains limited even in mainstream gaming,” he observes. The real driver of engagement isn’t immersion for its own sake. It’s a community.

When players share bet slips, stream games together, or celebrate wins as a group, something shifts. Solitary play becomes a connection. That’s where his focus lands: genuine player interaction over manufactured gamification.

Leadership built on five principles

Postiglione’s decision-making hinges on five values: Integrity, Fairness, Ambition, Belief, and Care. Before any significant move, he runs it against these anchors. The result? Actions that are “ethical, transparent, and inspiring yet grounded,” with player safety as the non-negotiable floor.

His personal motto captures the pragmatic realism that underpins everything: “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.” It’s the mindset of someone who’s seen crises and knows they’re inevitable. The question isn’t if disruption comes, but whether you’re ready.

What’s next?

As Casumo continues its evolution under Postiglione’s leadership—pairing substantial technological investment with genuine human connection—the broader gaming community is preparing for its next gathering. The iGaming world doesn’t stay still, and neither does the conversation.

SiGMA South Asia takes place in just five days from 30 November to 02 December 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka (Lumina Ballroom), bringing together the industry’s leading minds for three days of panels, keynotes, awards, and substantive networking. If you’re serious about shaping the future of iGaming, this is where that happens. Beyond the conference itself, Colombo’s culinary reputation offers the perfect backdrop for the extended conversations that often matter most. Secure your place to connect with the people driving lasting impact in global gaming.
