Marina Bay Sands has appointed veteran cultural executive Angelita Teo as Vice President of Attractions. She will lead the integrated resort’s portfolio of visitor attractions. The appointment comes just one day after the ArtScience Museum received a special recognition award from the Singapore Tourism Board, highlighting Marina Bay Sands’ continued focus on strengthening its non-gaming offerings.

Teo to lead Marina Bay Sands’ attractions portfolio

In her new role, Teo will oversee the strategic direction and growth of Marina Bay Sands’ attractions portfolio. Her responsibilities include the ArtScience Museum, the teamLab Digital Light Canvas interactive installation, the Sampan Ride, and the SkyPark Observation Deck.

Teo brings more than 30 years of experience in the cultural and heritage sector. Over the past seven years, she served as Director of the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage, an organisation under the International Olympic Committee based in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she led multinational teams overseeing global cultural programmes. Before that, she held several senior leadership positions at Singapore’s National Heritage Board. Her appointment aligns with Marina Bay Sands’ continued investment in cultural and tourism assets.

ArtScience Museum receives Singapore Tourism Board recognition

The leadership announcement was made one day after the ArtScience Museum received a Special Recognition award at the Singapore Tourism Awards 2026. The award recognises the museum’s 15-year contribution to Singapore’s cultural and tourism landscape. It also highlights its efforts to broaden public engagement through world-class exhibitions, films and programmes exploring the intersection of art, science, technology and culture.

Paul Town, Chief Operating Officer of Marina Bay Sands, said that as an integrated resort, Marina Bay Sands is uniquely positioned to showcase Singapore through world-class experiences. He added that the ArtScience Museum is not only a visitor attraction but also a cultural destination that encourages deeper visitor engagement.

Non-gaming revenue strengthens competitive position

The appointment also reflects Marina Bay Sands’ larger investment in non-gaming facilities. Construction began in July 2025 on the resort’s expansion project, known as MBS 2.0, which will add a new 55-storey hotel tower, 570 luxury suites and a 15,000-seat indoor entertainment arena designed by Populous. The project’s completion has been extended to 2031, with the parent company, Las Vegas Sands, committing an additional land premium of more than US$1 billion.

Operational performance also highlights the growing importance of non-gaming attractions. Marina Bay Sands has welcomed more than 500 million visitors since opening. In 2024, its meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) business attracted more than 1.2 million delegates, while the Sands Theatre hosted nearly 400,000 attendees.

Independent financial media outlet AD HOC NEWS reported that Marina Bay Sands’ hotel room and suite renovations target premium leisure and business travellers. This reflects the group’s strategic shift towards investing in hospitality, entertainment and other non-gaming businesses rather than expanding gaming facilities.

A model for integrated resorts across Asia Pacific

From leadership appointments to large-scale expansion projects, Marina Bay Sands is systematically positioning cultural experiences as a competitive advantage. Teo’s background in cultural curation and museum leadership is expected to strengthen the resort’s attractions portfolio through enhanced cultural programming and international exhibitions. At the same time, non-gaming revenue continues to account for an increasing share of Marina Bay Sands’ overall revenue.

As Singapore continues to tighten its gaming regulatory framework, the strategic importance of non-gaming operations is becoming increasingly apparent. For integrated resort markets such as Macau and Japan, which are also expanding their non-gaming offerings, Marina Bay Sands offers a case study worth watching.
