Lega Serie A, the governing body of Italy’s first division football league, signed a multi-year regional partnership with US-based prediction market platform, Polymarket, on the 13th of May 2026. This agreement aims to strengthen fan engagement.
Under this partnership, Polymarket will become the exclusive prediction market platform for Serie A games in the USA. It will be the only platform in the US allowed to offer official Serie A prediction markets, using official data such as match statistics and live game information. All the data will be supplied by Genius Company, a sports data company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Partnership and business growth
The two groups announced the multi-year agreement, which marks a significant business opportunity for both. Serie A aims to keep growing in the United States. North American fans who follow Serie A will have a new way to engage with the Italian league through live data and interactive match-day experiences. As the US represent one of the most important markets for Serie A, the league wants to benefit from prediction markets. “The United States represents a key growth market for Serie A. Our exclusive alliance with Polymarket, as a Regional Partner in the USA, lets us engage a new generation of fans through a platform that embodies emerging trends. It delivers an interactive, real-time product rooted in insights and participation perfectly aligned with their expectations,” commented Michele Ciccarese, Marketing and Commercial Director of Lega Serie A.
Prediction markets have the potential to offer football fans a different way to enjoy soccer in the US, keeping them interested in what is happening in the Serie A league across specific teams and players. Polymarket aims to benefit from this agreement by gaining visibility across the league’s US media and digital channels. “The next phase of sports engagement will not be defined by more content, but by more participation. Prediction markets give fans a way to actively interpret the game in real time, and partnering with Serie A brings that model to one of the world’s most followed leagues at a moment when American interest in the sport is at an all-time high,” said the Founder and CEO of Polymarket, Shayne Coplan.
With this partnership, the platform shows its intent to keep growing in the global sports sector. This announcement marks, in fact, the second partnership between Polymarket and a football league. In April 2026, the platform signed an agreement with LaLiga North America, making it the defining prediction market destination for football ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A signal for prediction markets
The deal also sends a message to the sports and gaming sector when it comes to the role of prediction markets. It shows that major football leagues are increasingly interested in working with these platforms, with the aim of growing their fan engagement. By collaborating with Serie A, Polymarket presents itself as an interactive tool that produces live data and not just a speculative platform where people can place bets and win money.
For the wider prediction market industry, this agreement is another sign that these platforms are moving closer to mainstream sport. The partnership with another major football organisation shows the sector’s visibility and credibility, especially in the USA, where sports leagues are focused on a younger and more digital audience. The Serie A deal is not only a commercial partnership but also a sign that prediction markets are becoming more involved in how football organisations engage with fans and create new digital opportunities.
